I use to be a TV repairman back in the days of the Z line
Zenith.....However, one of my friends asked me to help him with his TV.

I traced it down to a dead str5341, It worked, but thay say the pix shrunk
then went out. When I arived The remote worked (herd a relay click whenever
POWER was pressed on remote) so the supply was working at lease to the cpu,
but when I unpluged it and pluged it back in...SNAP dead agin(dead supply).
Is this set known for this?? bad HOT mabe?
I'll replace the PS chip again but I'm gunshy

Any help

Common failures on that vintage Zenith: ESR the capacitors in the
power supply, Horizontal shaping coil shorts, flyback shorts
internally, crt arcs back due to bad flyback and destroys crt even
after repairing the set, when regulator goes bad the low ohm resistor
0.18 approx changes value and will repeatedly blow regulator ic.
