Just replaced the belts on a PS-Q3 Sony turntable I purchased cheap at a
flea market and besides running a bit fast, Wrong size belts? When I press
start the arm goes in half way to the first song rather than to the
beginning edge of the LP. Would this be also due to the wrong size belts?
There are 2 adj screws on the rear , 1 says "END adj" and the other says "DP
adj". Any Ideas?.....Cheers

dp adj: Drop-Point Adjust: Point of start
end adj: Where to stop on the inside

You may dare to fiddle around on them, but first I would open the unit and
clean it and whilst on it, check if it uses a belt drive with any
electronic speed control or not. if ther's a electronic speed control you
can adjust it to the right speed.
Assuming you're in the US (AC110/60Hz-country) there might be another reason
for the speed: Sony sold turntables in large scales in europe, too, and as
we have mostly AC220/230V / 50Hz over here it could be that your unit was a
refitted one from a shipment to europe. There they connected the AC at half
the wirings of the transformer to compensate the voltage, but sometimes
they forgot to exchange the drive wheel from the bigger diameter (50Hz) to
the smaller diameter for 60Hz countries.
Have a look, if it is a belt-drive "only", if there is maybe on the motor
itself a smaller gear available: That should cure the speed-problem in that
case.
