help with power supply

I need a +5v power supply for my cnc mill. I use a takeoff from my computers
supply but would like to use a spare computer supply in the cnc controls
case. How do i do this (and keep the supply turned on). Will running a 1000
ohm resistor across a one of the 5v hookups work?

A switching supply requires a minumum load.
5mA isn't even close.
A wall wart might be a better plan.
