hi there all - dnot know much about electronics so might be completly
off track here but here is my question.
I have an ASUS PDA a620 with an internaly locked battery so no
possibilty of interchanging with a spare battery. obviously it might
pose a problem on long jurneys away from the mains. I do have a car
charger cable but thats not allways a possible solution.
I was thinking that as it takes 5v for operating and charging i might
be able to build a little box that will take a mobile phone batteria
which has 5v output or perhaps put together 4 AA batteries and somehow
reduce the voltage to 5. Is that possible/feasible? would a cell phone
battery be strong enough for a PDA? any ideas how do i go about
building it in the UK? I also assume that mobile batteries has much
more power than Alkaline AA batteries but is that truth?
any advice will be most wellcome...
cheers

Since you have a car charger, I'd look into seeing what the options are of
supplying 12 volts to it...AAA cell pack (ten nicad or NiMH cells or eight
alkalines) or something similar.

IMO, that's much safer than trying to supply battery voltage directly to the
innards....
