Help with, and Circuit diagram for Sony Trinitron KV-1440AS

Hi everyone,

A friend of mine bought a Sony Trinitron KV-1440AS from cash converters a
month ago. It had a split case and was selling cheap (around $50). He took
the internals out and mended the case and put the internals back in. However
the picture is washed out. The TV receives both audio and video signal.
However the picture appears white like snow and there is a green/black/green
band that runs horizontally across the screen. It's around 2 inches in
width. Also getting white lines that are periodic and about 1.5 cm apart
running horizontally from top to bottom (slightly at an angle).

Would anyone have a circuit diagram for this set? Maybe there is a workshop
in Brisbane or a website that sells them? Downloadable PDF's? He unplugged
all the wires internally when he removed the circuit board and tube. I think
they haven't been plugged back in correctly. Or maybe he damaged something?
He's given it to me. If I fix it ill be happy :)

Anyone know what I can do? Or any help?

Thanks!
Cheers,
James

Did he actually try it before mending the case ?

It may well have got dropped, thats what split the case
and the drop may well have fucked more than just the case.

Thanks for the response and the website!!!

When he purchased the set from cash converters the picture was excellent.
The reason the set was going so cheap was because of the split case. When he
brought it home and tested the set, the picture was A+. After overhauling
the set he encountered these video problems. He didnt drop the set on the
floor whilst under his ownership.

I think ill rent a manual from that website. Thanks!
Cheers,
James

It sounds like the connectors for the board are not in the right position.
If there are markings on the plugs make sure they correspond correctly with
the connectors on the mainboard.
Good Luck
