Help: VCR fuse?

My 1990 Panasonic PV-7000 VHS VCR expired
unnoticed recently. No front panel lights, no
on/off possible. It worked fine several weeks
ago.

There's a very faint internal buzzing or
hissing noise each time the AC cord is
plugged in.

Likely just an internal fuse or something
else? Thanks.

John Blake:
Yes, your diagnosis is correct.... "Likely just an internal fuse or
something else"
If you feel qualified, open er up and check the fuse.... and get your test
equipment out and check "something else".... such as the electrolytics
(check for DC shorts/leakage and high ESR) and check the semiconductors
(diodes and transistors for leakage, shorts or opens) and check especially
the low-ohm resistors.
If you are not certain how to start your troubleshooting and testing you
should go to the website for this newsgroup at
http://www.repairfaq.org/
There, with some searching, you will find a wealth of troubleshooting tips,
repair procedures, component testing methods and important safety
information that will help you to stay away from dangerous electrical shock
hazards.
You might be best advised to TAKE your VCR to a service shop for at the very
least a repair cost estimate so you can make an intelligent repair decision
with facts instead of internet or telephone guesses.
