Help: switch current ratings

If I have a 1A, 250VAC switch.

I have a lamp which runs at 3.6V 6W (ie 1.7A)

Can I safely use this switch?

How much can I increase the current rating of the switch if I use this lower
voltage? Or is it the case of 1A is 1A regardless of voltage....

Thanks for clearing that up!

You dont say if thats AC or DC, presumably DC.

Nope the current is too high, and its likely DC which
is more of a problem when opening the switch too.

You cant.

Nope, AC and DC also makes a difference. DC is worse.
