I don't know where to start describing the faults, they are many and varied,
though they all started at the same time.
The red is missing most of the time, sometimes it flickers and there is some
red there, but mostly where something should be red it appears as black.
Light colored text (or anything else) on a dark background appears smeared
to the right.
Most of the time there is a blue cast to the whole screen, and there is
quite a bit of flickering. When it flickers it usually goes a deeper blue.

I believe it may be a Trinitron tube.

What should I check first?

This can be a cold solder connection in the video path, a defective
component in the red or blue video drive, or bias circuits, or the CRT is
starting to fail.

A tech who is experienced with these monitors can do the proper tests to
determine the area of the failure. The CRT biases and video signal waveforms
have to be evaluated. At that time, he would also be able to check for any
cold solder connections.
