Hi
I just aquired a Toshiba TP4688C Rear Projection TV the picture still quite
good with the exception of these annoying slanted horizontal line that run
across the screen. These lines appear to be red and blue. Does anyone have
any idea how to get rid of these...

Thanks

These are blanking lines. They are usually attributed to having too high a
screen bias to the tubes, or there may be defective components in the
blanking circuits, or the tubes may be going weak. Most of the time when
these appear it is from weak tubes.

An experienced tech who is familiar with your set can diagnose the cause,
and give you a proper estimate for repair. He will have to check the bias
voltages to the various elements of the tubes, blanking pulses, and the
screen bias voltage to the tubes, to determine the area where the fault is.
Once the area of defect is known he will then be able to give you an idea of
what the overall fault is, and an idea of the cost to service the set.
