Help identifying TO-92 device?

Looks like a common small-signal transistor, plastic TO-92 package, but can't
find this number anywhere. No mfr. logo.

It's from a VSP Labs power amplifier, 20-years old, but cherished. Company
long expired.

I you search for it on zetex you will have info of ZVP0120A.

ZVP is used by Zetex as the prefix for P-channel MOSFETs.

However...... ZVP0116A does not seem to be in the listings
I have , and (afair) Zetex always used their E-line package
for small signal devices, nearly_but_not_quite a TO-92.

Zetex also tidied up their range of ZVN and ZVP devices
some years ago, mainly dropping older parts and suggesting
preferred replacements.

Note; ZVP0116A is not listed but ZVP0106A is, now dropped
and with the preferred replacement being ZVP2110A.

What's its output capability?

PS rail voltages are +/- 65 vdc. Output from the power MOSFETs (Hitachi
2SJ49's and compliment type) are 200 W/channel. The Hitachi's are rated at 8
A continuous duty (a *lot* of current, 20 years ago!). The ZVP is used in the
early stages of the driver circuitry. I don't have a schematic, but will
probably end up drawing my own if I don't find the cause of the distortion by
checking each device independently.

Thanks for checking for an old listing. I'd be happy, initially, to know just
the pinout. Then if I suspect it, I'd be interested in specs so I can find a
replacement...

ZVP0116 is not in the 1987 Ferranti catalogue.

I see he's already replied with 65-0-65 volt rails. This
seems to put it in the ZVP0120/2120 bracket?

ummm... a ping just went off. If ZVP0120/2120 are 200V
devices, I wonder if a ZVP0116 was a 160V device.

Afair, Zetex (was Ferranti) didn't use the normal TO-92
D-shaped package. They used a proprietry package, called
E-line. This was a small rectangular package with two
sharp corners and two rounded corners, as sketched above.
The part number was printed on the face with the rounded
corners, the left hand face in the sketch above.

BTW, I see in one of the Zetex cross-reference listings that
many of their ZVNxxxx or ZVPyyyy devices had the same xxxx/yyyy
as VN and VP devices (from Siliconix?). That list *does* show
a VP0116(N2), with the ZVP2120B as their suggested replacement.

Yes, I checked the PCB and you are, of course, correct. Thanks.

Yes. During those early years Supertex and Ferranti had
competing FETs with the same part number. We can drop the
Zetex Z, and I do have a Supertex VP0116 data sheet. It
shows 160V 100mA 25-ohm FETs, in TO-02, TO-39 and TO-220
packages. The VP0116N3 was a TO-92 part. Both the '0116
and the more popular '0120 parts have been discontinued.
