Help: Double Beeper Circuit

Hi,
I am looking for a Beeper Circuit (using a Piezo Buzzer/Sounder) which when
triggered should produce two beeps (pip-pip) every 5 seconds. Will prefer a
circuit using dual-timer 556 or CMOS/ TTL logic gates. Any help
appreciated - Tks

Does the Piezo Buzzer/Sounder produce its own sound from a DC input?
If so, what voltage? Or does the circuit have to generate the audio
signal as well as the pulses?

Each beep presumably about 200ms duration, and about 1kHz frequency?
Presumably something like 100ms interval between the two pulses?

Triggered by what?

That's correct

They usually work from 1.5v to 12v DC.

NO. The piezo buzzer produces the audio when the voltage is applied.

Should be Ok, I suppose. The question of audio frequency does not arise as
we
are not generating the audio. We are merely turning on/ off the piezo buzzer
as desired.
Presumably something like 100ms interval between the two pulses?
Even shorter will do I suppose. Ideally what I am looking at is
"pip-pip-5ms delay-pip-pip-5ms delay-pip-pip-5ms delay..."
Triggered by what?
I am interfacing this with a digital logic circuit and when the data output
lines have a specific value I would like the beeper to be triggered. This
can be a logic high or low.

OK, based on that clarification I've suggested an approach at
http://www.terrypin.dial.pipex.com/Images/Beeper-Darrin1.gif

I'm leaving on a short trip so don't have time to produce a detailed
schematic, just that outline. But it should be fairly straightforward.

The circuit would use two 555s (or a single 556), plus a 4017. Like
CFoley1064, that would be my preferred aproach. If you have
difficulties and they aren't resolved by others meanwhile, I'll take
another look at it after my return on Tuesday.

It's also very likely that there's a more elegant solution someone
will produce <g>.

Pip-pip for now.
