Help access convergence menu on Mag RL8530 (PTV375)

How do you get the convergence menu on this beast? I cannot find it
in the video menu, or any others (options, etc). Is it hidden somehow
or is there a special way to access it?

The convergence is manually done with edge and ring magnets on the CRT bell,
and on the CRT neck. This is not something you should do yourself, unless
you are properly trained and equipped.

If you're looking for the crosshairs, that is the customer convergence it
should be option 6,7 or 8 in the "video" menu. If it isn't there you might need
a chip, either the EPROM, the uProcessor or the convergence DAC.

If you're looking for the service convergence menu, either the kind with the
trap and key and lin controls, or one of them new snazzy cursor based systems,
it is not there. The PTV 375 used pots. They're in a "matrix" on the
waveshaping board up front ( at least it's up front :) ).

Now remember two things, those controls did not turn themselves and the set
needs to be troubleshot to find the problem before it will converge. You cannot
adjust a fault out except in very very rare cases. Even then it won't be
good hot and cold, or something will have to be compromised. I am quite apt at
these things and lemme tellya, I don't turn them unless it is a touchup, or I
need to know if the function of that control is working properly. If the error
is around ˝" or less on a 46" of that age, especially vertical lines at the
sides you might get away with adjusting it. If it's all whacked out do
not tamper with those controls. Also, without a schematic you won't know
which is which. I NEVER adjust a set like that without the layout right in
front of me, and I'm pretty sure in that year NAP did not provide one in the
set. The stuff hanging off the back, , , , I don't think so. Even if you have
the layout you need to understand the controls. Really, if you want to learn
about these things and troubleshoot it fine, if you're a novice read the FAQ
(www.repairfaq.org), get a meter, great, but don't adjust those controls ! Also
be VERY VERY careful in that set particularly an any PTV 100, 200 or 300
series. You can get shocked from the heatsinks even if you're using an
isolation transformer !

P.S. : Now you know about 10% of how fun my job is.

I have seen loose connection in the wiring harness cause loss of customer
convergence adjusment menu. check all harness connections to the interface
module (located on left upper area inside rear of set)

Loss of "convergence" adjustments in the menu is related to a bad TDA8444
DAC.
Located on the front convergence alignment board. The one with all the pots.

Good Luck,
