Hello. I just acquired some audio equipment from some older people. They are
friends of mine. I acquired a Fisher Equalizer and Tuner, along with a
Realistic Turntable and a Soundesign CD Player. At first when I powered it up,
it wouldn't do anything, except for the occasional time that the drawer would
open and shut without notice. So I went to the sci.electronics.repair FAQ and I
ran across the general maintenance. So I cleaned the contacts, put it back
together, then it started to work, or so I thought. After putting different
CD's in, I went to take one of the CD's out, nothing, the motor, like before
would act like it wanted to open the drawer, but nothing, none of the other
buttons would work either. I think it may be the belt, but am not sure. I'm
testing it in the other room.
My question is, what do you all think it is? Keep in mind, I'm no pro, just a
do-it-yourselfer learning. I mainly agreed to take the equipment especially the
Soundesign because my parents bought a Soundesign Receiver/Turntable in 1972
and it still works great. I'm not sure what kind of reputation they ended up
with. Could you all advise me on what the problem may be. The thing of it is,
it only refuses to open and shut after it's been on awhile. I'd appreciate any
advice you could give me on it, as I'm pretty frustrated. The model number is
5050BLK, it was made in 1987, if that helps.
Thank you for listening and I'd really appreciate any help you could give.
Thanks,
Tommy
