Just wondering if anybody else has purchased the 130 kit from dick smith and
how you have found it from the point of view of educating in basic
electronics from a 10years old prespective and an adult's view.

Just buying anything from dick smith is a education?
and the results are not good.

Quite true.... I just found out that Tandy and dick smith are both owned by
woolworths.... that explains why their is no striving to improve.... their
is no competition.

Wrong, there is plenty of competition for both of them.

I don't know about the new "NNN in 1" kits, but the older ones from
Tandy are supurb, and an excellent introduction for beginners. They
would be more aimed at kids though I would think.
Countless people in the electronics industry today got a start on
these kits.
I had the 50 in 1, 100 in 1, 150 in 1 and 200 in 1 kits.

Regards
Dave :)

Well the style of the knob on the pot used in the 130-in-1 sold by DSE is
exactly the same as
that in the Tandy/Science Fair 150-in-1 that I had nearly 20 years ago.
And the cardboard
insert is even the same shade of orange!

The springboard kits a good beginner intro, though the Funway system is
better at getting people to
read colour codes, handling components and identifying them, etc later on.
It's only a small step
from Fun Way 1 to using matrix board, etc to install parts.
