G'day everyone,

I have a problem with a recently acquired Handytalkie, the Standard
C-500 (EX):
It operates perfectly on VHF (TX & RX of 130-170 MHz) and VHF-HI
(340-380/360-400).

However, on UHF it shows a blinking display. I believe this means that
the PLL is not locked (the display also blinks at one of the other
band-limits). However, when transmitting (on every frequency from
400-470), the blinking stops AND it puts out a signal that is EXACTLY
the indicated frequency.... Strange...

When PTT is released, it goes back to RX-mode and the blinking starts
again; it does not receive (i.e., it is very deaf, not even a hint of
signal is detected, with another handy about 1 m distance).

I have reset the C-500 several times, without effect. I don't believe
an empty Lithium backup battery can be the problem, else it would have
this problem not only on UHF?

Does anybody recognize this behaviour? Or am I overlooking something
very simple (I've only recently acquired this handy). If anyone knows
this piece of equipment, or has a schematic or even a service-manual,
that would be of great help; I'd really like to get this handy going
again; it's old, but it's beautiful, 5W output, rugged, simple to
operate, etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
