HAKKO soldering tip dimensions

Guest
I have an old soldering station with a worn out tip.
I have seen on Ebay many tips for HAKKO irons, but I haven't
been able to find dimension information for the outer diameter,
inner (hole) diameter, and diameter for the part that has to
fit through the collar hole.
Does anyone know this information, or where I can find it?
Please post it here.
(The Hakko website and Google have been of no help.)

Thank you.

** The OD of a new tip is 6.7 mm, the ID is 4mm.

There is thin stainless steel sleeve fitted inside the hole.

The hole is 23mm deep.

The old tip's OD's are 5.9mm and 8.4mm,
and the ID is 5.1mm.
Hole depth is 27.3mm.
So it looks like the HAKKO tips won't fit my station.
Thanks anyway.

Thank you.

Call Hakko in Valencia California and ask them.

Were they interchangeable tips anyway?

There's the Weller system with the tips that keep the temperature
constant. So any tip that fit in there has to have the same makeup, not
just size.

I haven't a clue about the Hakko, except they are expensive so I'd wonder
if the tips had some special quality to them.

For the last few years I've been making my own Weller magnastat tips,
only takes about 10minutes. Solon tips , ancient ones but nice long
taper cone and hollow shank. I gave up trying to find the right Weller
tip-form, right temperature and lack of minimum order or equivalent
barrier to sale. Solon ones are too long , cut back with Dremmel disc,
squash a copper nail in the hollow, cut and splay out the end to take a
magnastat and good to go. Not familiar with Hakko but probably a similar
bodge/kludge for them also

The tips are interchangeable, and are just machined copper.

That's it? No plating?

I haven't used a non-plated tip since 1974, when I switched to the Ungar
(well via Radio Shack) iron that had the handle, the heating element and
the tip, so you could pick and choose. The only tips that I've worn out
in that time was when I dropped the iron and actually broke a tip. I
don't remember any tips corroding away otherwise.

Well, I still use just a bit of copper wire in my soldering gun, and thus
expect to have to change the tip every so often. But then about 1974
someone gave me about a yard of multistrand high gauge wire from a
transmitter installation, each strand being about right for a soldering
gun tip. So I'm still working through that yard of copper wire. A lot of
money saved there.

** Hakko tips are so simple.

There is a steel jacket over the copper ( like a full metal jacket bullet)
which is also nickel plated.

The stainless steel, internal liner is there to prevent adhesion to the
ceramic heater.

I got the device used, but I would imagine that it was plated at one
time.
