We are a team of engineers developing a system to interogate gsm
mobile phones within a predefined area to gather certain information
namely:
the mobile telephone number of the handset for later use in marketing
operations of the type where an sms message is sent to the handset
owner.
The device would be placed in oportune locations that would allow the
gathering of valuable marketing data sets. Electronics and rf
engineers are invited to apply with their cv and ideas as to how they
would help develop this project. Suitable applicants will be given
opportunitys to get involved with the team and join a number of
software engineers already involved. Please email
johngold35@hotmail.com if interested.

As Trump would say, "You're fired"!

Stuck in a hotel last night I watched Trump's show for the very first
time... not bad, mildly amusing ;-)

Trump's Verizon ad is better. Folks choosing the
wrong telephone company get fired, with panache.

Thanks,

Uh, check the TCPA. It illegal to telemarket a cell phone number. If
there's no law against this sms message SPAM, we'll make one.

You are evil scum and unworthy of assistance. However, it won't work
anyway. The GSM protocol does not transmit the subscribers phone
number. It only passes the PIN data which is encrypted. Even the ESN
is not directly accessible as it's encrypted as part of the TMSI.

Then, go away and find something more productive to do.

It's called "Location based services". The US cellular providers seem
to think that this will be a killer application. I think they're nuts
and will be seriously disappointed by the inevitable consumer reaction
to the breach of privacy.

Team, perhaps - Loosers, certainly - Engineers, NOT.

A quick perusal of the relevant GSM/3G standards will reveal that the
information you need to spam the handsets with useless garbage is held by
the telecom provider and the handset does not "know" anything except it's
IMSI Number. Hard, innit?

You want to make a machine that sniffs out peoples' cellphone numbers
when they go in or near a store.

The device would be placed in oportune locations that would allow the
gathering of valuable marketing data sets.
You want to record when and where these people are shopping.

"John Gold", huh? You are a prostitute.
When I start getting cellphone spam, I will think very strongly about
taking a large club and looking for you and your friends. I am not amused.
At the very least, your equipment should be smashed.
Perhaps I should put a team of engineers together that will make a
machine that sniffs out your cellphone number and when you are near a
certain location, it does something very nasty. Have you thought about that
potential application?
Have a nice day.

Cheers!
