Green crystal stuff on PCB

I've got an old (dud) laptop, and the little internal battery has leaked
a bit. There's green crystalline stuff growing on various components.

I'm quite familiar with fixing things, but as yet I haven't discovered a
better way of getting rid of this stuff other than scraping it off. Has
anyone found any good solvent liquid stuff that works? (Like flux
cleaner maybe?)

Cheers

Actually these are Dilithium crystals which you can sell to any StarTrek
vessel.
If you want to ignore that option, you could try a solution of bicarbonate
of soda in water applied with a stiff bristle brush, followed by a rinse of
distilled water and a blow job with the hair dryer.

With a hair dryer? Wow, I have never tried that one.

It was probably cleaned with windex or some other ammonia-based product .
( a often FATAL thing to do with electronic *anything*. )

I have seen many TV boards trashed because of it .
