GPS Tags?

Hi

I'm looking for information on "tags" that can be used for positioning of
goods using the global GPS system. The functionality should be something
like RFID-tags.
The tag should be an active tag, emitting its current position on regular
intervals (e.g. 5 sec.). This position should be reported back to a central
server, to allow an "up-to date" picture of where the good is currently
located. Given it should be an active tag, I expect it to carry it's own
powersource (small battery).

Are you able to assist me here in finding such products...?

Thanks

For the transmitting capability, you'd want something like a GPS
receiver paired with a cellphone transmitter. These products already
exist, they're used for tracking vehicles.

Thanks for the reply, Nicholas!

Yes - I know such emitters are used for tracking vehicales, but I'm looking
for a "gizmo" in the physical size of a dollar (or like this).
Something that can be programmed (ROM?) to connect to a specific
phonenumber/receiver. I do not need a "phone"-like behaviour, but of course
it needs to be able to "dial" so a specific connection point.

Can you direct me to further information on where to find such items?
