Can anyone explain how the trigger level is
derived in a gould 450 scope?

No manual at hand?
The 450 should still have the "old-Style" knobs on the front panel.

No manual.
This is an all digital scope. Front panel push buttons adjust
the trigger level. These send a sense voltage to an a/d
converter in a Motorola microcontroller and where it's
converted to digital data. That's where I lose the trail.
Apparently, the data is converted to a pulse and sent to
the enable input of a one to eight multiplexer with a ramp
voltage on the input. The output is integrated into a dc voltage
and sent to the trigger chip as the level voltage. The other panel
buttons like position , polarity etc.. use the same method and operate
properly varying the enable pulse timing with respect to the ramp voltage.
I guess I relly need the manual to figure it out.
