This portable TV set works fine but there seems to be a loud noise coming from
the circuit board. When I remove the scan coil plug the noise disappears.
Which suggests the fault is in the line output stage. What could be wrong
here?

What kind of noise ?

Could be dry joints, one of the ferrite cores could be cracked and
moving in time with the line output, bad capacitor...

its a high frequency sound coming from the line output stage.The sound varies
according to the picture scene.
