Anybody knows if this newsgroup is for aol users only, or it can be access by
other users?
I am using aol. If I post a question here, will only aol (america on line) user
be able to see
it?
If not, how can i enter to this exact newsgroups if I do not use the aol
service?

Hi Joe,

Anybody with access to a news server (provided by the ISP) can
participate. I am not an AOL user.

As you might guess by my address and the others you may have seen
post, newsgroups are for 'everyone', at least those who know about
them.
Newsgroups were started way before AOL did, and way before the
World Wide Web was started.

it?
Nope, everyone who reads this newsgroup will see it. Furthermore,
it will be archived forever in Google's newsgroup database.

If not, how can i enter to this exact newsgroups if I do not use the aol

There are two ways. The cheap-and-easy way is to go to
groups.google.com and type in the name of the newsgroup you want to
read.
The other, usually better, way is to get a newsreader (some email
programs and some WWW browsers have news reading capabilities), and
configure it to read from your ISP's news server. Configuring it is no
more complicated than configuring an email program. Most ISP's have
pages on their websites that show you how.

Go to msn.com and look up how to access newsgroups (probably under
support or something like that). You'll need a news reader, such as
"free agent" available for download here: http://www.forteinc.com

Hi Joe,

As Ben said you can use an email program. I found the one in the Mozilla
browser the most stable so far, others crashed on me or errored too
much. Blank posts and all that.

Now you have to find out the name of the news server for your ISP. I
couldn't find it fast enough but Google showed it to me in 10 seconds.
Then use the email program, right click on that news server once you
have it installed and wait for the list of newsgroups. Then click
"subscribe" for those you want. BTW, it'll ask your user name and password.

Usually email programs let you click a "news" tab which then guides you
through that whole process and flag in case you forgot to set up something.
