FS: RF Connectors Reverse Polarity and Conventional

Hi peter,

I was interested in making up some microwave filters for some uni projects.
I'm interested in a machined housing you've got listed on the website. I was
wondering what is the advantage in going to one of the machined housings
rather than just a standard diecast cabinet? such as that from the
discount/surplus suppliers. I notice alot of advertised microwave gear using
that type of machined housing. Is there an overwhelming reason for doing so?
please forgive my ignorance.

regards,
ray

There can be a couple of problems with diecast boxes used at RF and
microwave:

Usually there are just 4 screws on the lid which can lead to poor screening.
Often the floor isn't flat and there is insufficient thickness for screws
for a PCB

A machined housing looks good and works well but can be expensive. The
housings on www.rfshop.webcentral.com.au
are a less expensive alternative.
