flexlm, multiple nics

What happens with the flexlm license server if you add a second
(higher performance) network interface when a license tied to the
first nic? Will it search for the mac address of all connected nic's
or will it choose one using some other mechanism (like the lowest pci
bus number etc.)?

A lot depends on how the second card is added. If it somehow gets to be
'first in the list' of hostids on your system, it might break the
licensing, as the license software thinks your machines hostid has
changed. You can see a lot of different things using the LMTOOLS to
chack your machines hostid.

This stuff is optimized for maximum Murphy effects...

Just a comment:

Maybe FLEXLM detect network cards by probing the PCI bus, or
querying Windows about "what Network Cards are available?".

So, maybe if there's a problem you could play with moving the cards
between slots?

Obviously, this doesn't apply if you use the onboard networking of your
motherboard.
