Hello we have a F&P Gentle Annie series 9 cloths washer. It is showing the
following fault.

Will not fill or start washing, gives a Beep -- Beep --- Beep audio code and
has the 'Short Wash' (green) and the 'Spin' lights on.

It has had a new sealed out of balance kit fitted and also a lid reed switch
fitted very reciently,

my question is has one of these new switches failed or is this some new
fault?

I am really starting to get annoyed as this washer has had heaps of repairs
under the 5 year warranty and really makes one wonder about the reliabilty
of product of NZ's so called leading appliance maker!

Thanks for the help.

Please dont tell me to go buy a XXX instead, a new washer is not an option
at the moment!

I would have thought calling FP or a repair shop to ask what the lights
mean would be a good start.
You know I've brought these machines from Auctions for about $90
in the past.

I have had one for about 11 years the faults I have fixed were due to the
wiring loom vibrating so I have spliced a new section in.
Also the filter blocks up
As the other poster suggested ring a repair depot as the lights give a
diagnostic code.

Buy a refurbished F&P 380. About $400 and they are very reliable, just
not as flash.

Had a similar problem with a smart drive. Turned out the water inlet filters
were blocked.
Check the water filter at the tap connection is not blocked,
If that is ok check water inlet solonids are working.

If the machine cannot fill (or you forgot to turn the taps on) it will
eventually give up and sound an error.

We have a F&P fridge, frost free type, first 24hrs, it frosted up and
stopped the cool air flow to the fridge compartment, and it kept doing it,
eventually had all the electronics replaced in it, and it seems to have
solved it. Not happy tho.

What does the book say the error is?

We had a new F&P washer that intermittently came up with an error which
the book said was a water supply problem.
Turns out the Cold Solenoid did not always open when required.
New solenoid fixed problem.
And this was from the first day of new machine.

Wot's Your Real Problem?

We have a F&P cloth washer and dish washer and had a lot of problems with
them. I had to completely re-wire the dishwasher once. What's more, the
company HQ in Queensland (I think), declines all responsibility as to
workmanship etc.
In your case I believe it to be the water level sensor which in turn
activates the electronics. The electronics are very reliable (if kept dry).
The sensor is a kind of pressure switch; a cylindrical pot with a long tube
attached; in this tube the water rises when the machine is filled and,
compresses air above it. Check it out, it could be blocked and give a full
signal; its in a corner of the tub unit. The out of balance sensor is only a
micro switch with a long actuator lever.
Service people usually have little diagnostic ability, have to know the
intricacies of many makes and are basically only parts jokies.
Good luck
Frank
