fine pitch breakaway headers

Hi all,

I am looking for some 0.05" pitch dual row surface-mount "breakaway headers"
similar to the common 0.1" pitch through-hole headers. I am probably just
typing in the wrong words into the digikey search engine but I can't seem to
find these! I would like to use these to mate two boards together, female
smt on one side and male on the other. Thanks for your time,

cheers,
Jamie Morken

Samtec has many board to board connectors.
Been using them for years.

Mill-max and Molex have them, but I think the 2mm pitch is a lot more
available than 1.27mm. Not sure about the breakaway feature on the
males, I'm pretty sure it's not possible on the females.

The triple threat of .05 inch centers, SMT and break away is going to
really limit your choices. There are lots of metric (e.g. 2 mm)
connectors and lots of pre molded (specific number of pins) SMT
designs, but very few break away designs in such a fine pitch. There
is just not enough material between the pins to hold them together
after you break them.

Take a look at these 2 mm designs:
Digikey part # WM18158 (8 pin, two row male SMT)
and WM18017 (8 pin female two row SMT)

I have to confess that I didn't know the difference between "breakway"
headers and headers like the below ones you noted, even though I put it in
the subject! ..

These are exactly what I am looking for except with 0.05"/0.127mm or 1.25mm
pin spacing. Samtec.com does have a lot of 0.05" connectors there, digikey
seems to be "out of stock" for a lot of this stuff though. I will just
order Samtec parts through a local distributer (less handy but way cheaper
than digikey). Thanks,

cheers,
Jamie Morken
