Ferguson 59J7 TX100 TV Help!

Hi

This maybe a long shot but here goes....

I have an old ferguson 59J7 TX100 TV but the controls aren't working so I
can't tune it in or change channel/volume. Using the remote doesn't work
either. It turns on and off fine though :)

There is no other in/out (other than the aerial socket) other than two
sockets on the back marked "Video Disc" and "VHS". From scouring the web I
believe them to be 7-Pin Din type. There certainly is 7 pins required.

Is there any way I can either:

1. Get the tuner to work again- I just want to use PC with video out on it
so once would be enough!

2. Utilise those ports on the back in some way? Does anybody know the pin
out? Anywhere I could find it?

I literally just want the picture- any way possible! Please save this old
machine from the skip!

Thanks for your help

Schematics are available from your public library, in the "Radio and
Television Servicing" book for the relevant year.

I have data for the TX90, with video input option card. The pinout may
well be the same as yours. Two DIN sockets:

First is composite in, 5-pin (240 degree) DIN socket.
1=comp video in
2=gnd
3=gnd
4=audio in
5=gnd
Looking into socket, pins number 1-2-3-4-5 clockwise

Second is RGB in, 8-pin DIN socket.
1=gnd
2=sync in
3=green in
4=sync in (the 2 sync pins are equivalent and merged via diodes)
5=blue in
6=audio in
7=red in
8=+12V "only for use where specified"
Looking into socket, pins number 6-1-4-2-5-3-7 clockwise, pin 8 is in middle.

Selection of input on mine is done from the normal channel select buttons,
1-6=UHF, 7=RGB 8=Composite. When 7 or 8 is selected the AGC is driven
hard to the IF strip to blank out the normal signal, and the composite
or RGB is merged in at appropriate points on the main TV pcb. So if your
set is jammed in external video mode then the tuner will probably appear
inoperative.

Hope this helps.

Mike.
