Feedback and Distorion on my speakers

A friend of mine gave me a pair of 100w speakers, but when I plugged them
into my amp, I get bad distortion on both high and low sound. Is there any
way I can fix this?

Verzub:
If the amp is otherwise good and works well with other speakers then
obviously your new 100W speakers would be bad.... probably not economically
repairable...
.... maybe that is why your "friend" gave you the pair of 100W speakers????

Make sure the speakers are the correct impedance load for the amp.

What speakers? What amp? How did you connect them?

Try pushing gently on the cones. There should be no "scratchy" sounds.
If the speakers are 2-way or 3-way, then check the crossover
capacitors as well.

I don't know what prices are like over your way, but here in Australia
I can buy a 10" 80W woofer for US$18.
