I do not think it is laser -- CD and DVD use difefrent lasers.
I think it will use same mechanism as Panasonic, in which case, most
likely
spindle motor is gone.

Hi,
I beleive that WES only supplies the motor. This means lots of adjusting
after you replace it. You have to get the height of table right.
Panasonic sells motor together with mechanism, so you only have to put
your
laser pickup there.
But on the other hand, Panasonic price is about $70, while motor from WES
is
about $10.
