I usually do not use this forum to sell things but I am closing up shop soon
and think maybe some people may need some equipment.
I am selling at prices designed to help those entering the field.
see:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280283199902&sspagename=STRK%3AMESELX%3AIT&viewitem=&salenotsupported

I have other equipment and some more serious meters if anyone is interested.

Regards,
Tom

I actually thought I could help some newbys find some cheap gear.
Sorry that you were so offended.

JeefM's constant posting of "Don't MULTIPOST" messages is just another
form of spam - also against the charter.

If he really wanted to resolve the problem, he would research the real
email address of the posters and send the message to them.

Otherwise, it's just preaching to the choir...

Huh?

That's closing the barn door after the cows have escaped.

When the reply is posted for everyone to see, then that may reach
others who are tempted to post ads or whatever. When nobody is
challenging the bad posts, then it actually "gives permission" for
others to do it, "well he did it and nobody said anything...".

The joke is that as traffic slowly disappears, the ads keep coming.
They think it will help someone, or they think they'll reach a wider
audience, yet in reality they just help to kill off the newsgroup. There
may not be more ads than in the past, but they become a larger percentage
of the traffic as the real traffic dies off. Yet it is the real traffic
that brings people to a newsgroup, which is why the advertisers try to
ride on top of that. Without the real traffic, there's not much reason
for ads, because there won't be anyone here to read the ads.

Michael

I really didn't intend it to be an ad Michael.
Most of the other groups to which I belong welcome passing along info to
help others even if its a brief reference to an add.
I won't do it again. When a beginner asks, " Where can I get a good meter at
a decent price?" I'll remain silent.
Peace,
Tom

Its one thing to answer a question, and another to post ads.

I'm fairly sure that the silent majority doesn't have a problem with what
you did, it's just the local net-kop twats blowing off as usual. Ignore
'em. :)

Seconded! What you did Tom is no different than referring to any reseller.
It was hardly an ad.

If you want to amend the charter, start that initiative.
Until then, the baseline is *If you want to buy or sell something,
take it to misc.industry.electronics.marketplace*.
<snip the same stupid link>
Why don't you just post this?
"A forum for discussion of electronics where there is no such thing as a
stupid question. Beginners questions. Discussion of electronics education.
Requests for other sources of information."

Multimeters actually pertain to electronics. Tom was just trying to be
helpful, you aren't.

If I have to wade through 8 ads to see a real entry,
this newsgroup will have lost its appeal.
Spamming will kill a newsgroup.

Beginners come to THIS group because it's much easier to find.
Tom was just trying to be helpful, that's a GOOD thing.
People dislike net-cops a lot more than they dislike the people who
"violate" some ancient barely accessible "charter".
Most normal people are perfectly capable of simply ignoring a clearly
labeled "FA:" or "FS:" thread.

Dave.
