It looks almost exactly like the one described on my web page to
drive a photomultiplier tube. These are not remarkable, but some
people have gotten this circuit to work OK. I think the transformer
used is critical, lots of windings and high frequency ceramic
ferrite core. Here is mine, basic circuit from an astronomy
book (I can give reference to interested parties):
