Good very early morning, :)
MY F&P Washer has bit the dust again!!! (4th time!)
Fault shows as slow input of water into bowl. (H & C) Hoses have been
checked and are fine.
I put the machine into diag mode and it told me the fault code was 49.
(Level 4 diag).

I don't have a list of fault codes so....................................
Any ideas chaps. I suppose I could call a service agent.... :)
(I'd by the parts off him of course)

49. (00110001) Cold Valve Faulty

The Motor Controller Module has measured a voltage from the valve diagnostic
circuit that indicates the cold valve is faulty. The most likely cause is that
the valve harness has not been connected correctly or the valves are open
circuit. See fault 48 for service procedure.

48. (00110000) Hot and Cold Valve Faulty

The Motor Controller Module has measured voltages from the valve diagnostic
circuit that indicate both the hot and cold valve are faulty. The most likely
cause is that the valve harnesses have not been connected correctly or the valve
is open circuit.

Primary Source – Wiring
Action – Check valve harnesses are correctly fastened to valves.

Secondary Source – Water Valves.
Action – Check valve coils are not open circuited.

Tertiary Source – Motor Controller Module
Action – Replace Motor Controller Module.

I had the same problem with my F&P machine..
Try swapping over the Hot Water Solinoid with the Cold water Solinoid..
You'll probably find that the Cold Water Solinoid has Shorted windings which
is causing a Partial
opening of the water valve.

Swapping over the two solinoids should give you something to start with..

Cheers

I don't like the 3rd option.
(THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! chaps)

..

But that seems like it could be the culprit as both valves
are affected. Any more ideas?
apart from what the F&P service tech said.
I quote,"Throw the thing out and get a hovermatic"
LOL and this guy works for F&P
o'dear.

I'd certainly go the route of checking the valves first. Check for OC with your
multimeter. You DO have a multimeter - that's a prerequisite for posting in the
group ;-)

Then - if the harness will accommodate it - swap the valve solenoid leads
hot-vs-cold and see what you get.

You could also try operating each valve separately in diagnostic mode.

If the valves and harness check OK then I would personally attack the controller
board and check the driver SCR. These boards are ~$150-200 to replace, and I
guess if your effinpee has shat itself that many times I would certainly be
considering a replacement machine. In my case it has died once in nine years so
I figure that's not too bad.

you cant swap the hot/cold valves on f&p machines. One is a variable
rate solenoid, the other aint

The machine is now beside a new Whirpool 'commercial quality' washer
I decided to stop paying for repairs on it.
One thing I'll say for the F&P its was so quiet compared to the clunk of
the new machine. Has an interesting agitator too.

I had a series 51, the very early series machines, that will go for 10
years plus with no problems. Unfortunately even they do not last forever.

Get a 380 or 400, they are still around and plenty of parts available.
Not as sophisticated but very reliable.

I fixed it. Bought a Whirpool washer. :) Problem solved.
