Emerson TV Stuck on "Video"

I have a 12-year old Emerson TV (TC2555D) that developed an interesting
problem. Video and sound appear to be fine, or at least as fine as they
were a month ago. But now the television is stuck on "VIDEO" mode. Every
button on the remote (original or all-in-one) works except for anything
having to do with channels (up, down, channel setup buttons). Nothing will
get it off of the "VIDEO" input. The interesting thing is that this
television has no video inputs, just a CATV/antenna coax connector. I've
pulled the power plug for a while too. Any ideas besides the obvious ("get
a new set already")?

"Original Remote"??. Access the chassis of the set and look for any possible
contamination or debris, mold, etc in the area of the control buttons,
EPROM, and mpu. Beyond that the set probably is not worth putting a lot of
time into, being 12+ years old. IHMO
