Short Desc.
Emersion 19 TV/VCR combo
No pick/sound with steady low whistle sound coming from the back near the
big blue compacter.
Long Desc.
My 3yr old knocked his 19 inch. tv off the stand at about 3 ft. This ripped
the cable connector (the part the cable wire screws into, the round piece
from the rect. shiny piece) from the back of the TV. We have replaced the
TV (and the kid) and are now attempting to get the old TV back going. First
thing I did was to split the case and solder the round piece back to the
metal shiny thing, center post first followed by the outside edge. When we
first plugged it up the TV fired right up and played but had a bad picture
consisting of little black/white specs floating just like when you don't
have the cable screwed in all the way. I figured maybe the center post of
the round piece may be touching the outside part of the round piece or the
shiny part which caused bleeding. I proceeded to de-solder/re-solder the
part again but this time when we plugged it back in we cannot get any
picture/sound and only a faint strait whistle sound (steady - no stopping)
coming from the back. By the way it turned out that even the new TV
displayed the fuzzy picture look which ended up only being the cable so the
last step/mess-up appears to be in vain ;(
Anyone have any ideas? Oh and please go gentle on me because as you can
tell ("shiny") I know next to nothing about electronics.
