Gday all, its been many years since i have attempted electroniics.

but what i wish to do is install an alarm on my motorcycle.

but i wana make a circit that is run off the number plate light as soon as
you turn it on the lights come on.

so id like it as soon as it goes out or maybe a timer sorta thing if its
simple enough to turn the alarm on via a relay.

is this possible, if so any idea's where i can look to make one of these?

thanks

What's the point of having an alarm activated only when the lights are on,
surely that would mean only when you are on the bike
You don't leave the lights on when you are away from the bike
or if you do, then you must have a trailer on the back carrying spare
batteries.
Nothing worse than trying to bump start a bike on a cold and wet night at 3
a.m. 50 miles from anywhere just because your battery is flat.

I made one of these gadgets years ago which also combined a rev limiter
cut-out for when the bike fell over of its own accord
, but this was about 40 years ago when I was racing bikes and the alarm was
only a secondary thing to stop anyone pinching things when in the pits and I
was away on a pits stop

Got the circus diagram from some old EA magazine
and devised it from there
I still have it in the shed ....somewhere amongst the collectible items
hoarded over the years
don't ask me where.
But the answer is.........
About four years after I had made this gadget and not done anything with it,
a very similar thing appeared on the market
marketed surprisingly by an electronics teacher at the local college who I
had confided with about my gadget and btw, is now an ex friend

No No No, the alarm is on when the lights are OFF

the bike is reigged up to have the light son as soon as the ignition is on..
so lights off bike off, alarm is on..

the alarm im looking at is a small 6-12v alarm that will run for days on a
9v battery.. but its a simple alarm, put power to it and it works...

my ignition sistem is micro chipped to the key so it makes it vitually
impossible to start with no key but im more of worried about people playing,
touching or damaging the bike with my profession...

so the design i would like would be it turns the alarm on as soon as my
number plate light is off..

i dont know enough about electronics to design something but im sure i could
build something..

thanks
