I am shocked!

Of the last 100 posts, only ONE was about politics!

Who gave you people permission to talk about electronics?

What's next? Being polite?

:)

Jokes, (apart from them two on the other side of the pond)

HEAVEN AND HELL

Heaven is a place where ...

the Germans are in charge of the organization;
all the police are British;
all the environmentalists are Norwegian;
the French are the chefs;
the Swiss are the bankers;
all the salesmen are American;
the Belgians make the chocolate;
the Swedes are the lovers;
the goldmines are run by South Africans;
all the storytellers are Irish;
all the distillers are Scottish;
the opera singers are Italian;
the Danes are the brewers;
all the spices are provided by Indians;
the fishermen are Icelandic;
all the footballers are Brazilian;
the Spanish run the holiday resorts;
and the Dutch are the merchants.

Hell is a place where ...

all the police are German;
the British are the chefs;
the Norwegians are the singers;
the French are in charge of organization;
the Australians are the lovers;
the Swiss run the navy;
the Americans are the brewers;
the Belgians put up the signposts;
all the comedians are Swedish;
the South Africans are in charge of racial integration;
the only logic is Irish;
the speech therapists are Scottish;
the Ethiopians are in charge of agricultural policy;
the Italians run the armed forces;
the Indians are in charge of birth control;
the tour companies are run by Icelanders;
all the economists are Brazilian;
the Serbs are in charge of human rights;
the Spanish are the road builders;
all the orphanages are run by Romanians;
....and the common language is Dutch;

Serious error.

Don't see the difference. Killfiled (almost) all political issues.

the opera singers are Italian;

Sorry, charlie. If there's opera, it ain't "heaven." That's the
only noise passing for music that I hate almost as bad as rap.

Or either that or heaven is full of nothing but excruciatingly
boring, self-righteous prigs.

In Heaven There is No Beer.

Fuck you. Take your heaven and shove it.

Thanks,

Maybe everyone is doing what I've decided to do... unless truly
outrageous I just ignore political statements, and killfile the
persistent posters.

Besides, it can be bad for business... that fellow I called "jerk"
today could have been on his way to being my customer tomorrow :-(

I've just now had a minor political disagreement with my nominal
boss - he's going to vote for Bush, because he's a republican. I'm
not, because I'm not.

But I didn't fight with the guy. I let him have his conclusion that
I'm an idiot, and I fixed his computer, and now his computer works.

And so do I. ;-)

Cheers!

Well, I'll jump in here with something that some might call a non-
sequitur, but:

Don't "politics" and "polite" come from the same root word? How weird
is that?

Tanks,

I was reluctant to do this because some of the political posters
also post about electronics, but lately the percentage of political
posts is so high that I haven't been reading anything, so I might as
well... I am now killfiling anyone who posts about politics in a
electronics newsgroup. It will be interesting to see how many of
us don't post about politics.

The only thing better than the Red Sox winning last night was if they had
beat the Yankees in overtime with bases loaded.

The "other place" sounds more interesting, but I guess there'd be
quite a lot of rap "music" there. :-( Opera stinks, though. I wouldn't
miss it. :)

Rich Grise

Wagner? I'll agree
...but there's something wrong with someone who doesn't like "Carmen".

Well, the instrumentals are pretty good, usually - I just get my teeth
set on edge by what, to me, sounds like so much caterwauling.

And of course, Bugs Bunny does a passable Figaro. ;-)

You're too right on Rap. BTW, you left off the 1st letter.

Satan laughed. "Where are you gonna get a lawyer?"

Does this mean you've killfiled Win Hill, for example?
Alas, yes. I really liked his posts on electronics, too.
Another heartbreaker was Rich Grise; it was only a month ago
that we were having lunch together. I had to do it, though.
The sheer volume of political posts was higher than my
tolerance level for finding the electronics posts.

I don't understand why you guys don't just ignore the political threads...
they appear to be pretty clearly labelled as such in the subjects, at
least.
I tried that a while back. Too many political discussions in
threads with electronics subject lines.

I even tried asking them to use "[OT]:" to make filtering easy,
and they purposely put "[OT]:" on electronics posts and stripped
it from political posts.
