Electronics book shop in Sydney

Hi guys,

Does any body know a good book shop for electronics in Sydney ? I am
intresting in designing electronics circuit books and safety in electronics
workshop books.

Dymocks in the city have a reasonable selection. They are on George St near
Myer. Also Jaycar and Altronics (Auburn) have a good selection. Buying off
Amazon is only good if you know what is inside the book, the cover and
description can only say so much....

True, but I found that technical bookshops (in Melbourne) do not have most
of the books that amazon has, so I have to go by descriptions and reader's
review. I was getting mainly Linux and TCP/IP books lately.

Your local TAFE and Uni library is a great place to go to check out
books and have a read. If you like it and want your own copy then you
can order from Amazon etc.
The university co-op book shops are also an excellent place to browse
and buy, they will have a full range of electronics and engineering
books on display.
Everyone will of course tell you to get a copy of The Art of
Electronics by Horowitz and Hill - I'll second that.

Not always. On some books the uni bookshops are cheaper.
On others amazon can be 75% of the price after shipping costs.
On a lot with shipping costs it comes out within a few dollars.

Also be aware that international editions are not
always identical to American editions.

Some international editions have sections cut out,
some for digital design have vhdl instead of verilog or have both instead of
just one.
Others don't have software cd's with them.

Also, they are usually willing to order special stuff in for you if you
don't mind putting a decent deposit down. They mail order to anywhere in
Australia.
