I'm working on a small 13" RCA TX825 TV which does not come on at all. When
first plugged in, I can hear the crackling of the HV but no pic. or audio.
Looking closely, I see that the heater filament brights and dims alternatively.
Checking voltages I can get the normal +165VDC at the collector of the HOT but
it fluctuates and that may be the reason why the heater filament does the same
thing. I unplugged the set and decided to check the voltage on the main
electrolytic cap to see the discharging of it and to my surprise the voltage
started rising up, first it measured +165VDC and then it kept going up slowly
to past the +200VDC. Now my question is:. Is this normal for an electrolytic
cap to behave like this and could it be the cause for the the alternating
voltages in teh circuitry?
Your answers and thoughts will be much appreciated.
