Eizo F77 monitor bad focus

After making a cable to connect the maintenance port to the pc, i tried to
set the convergence as best as possible.
But...

I have a bad focus when I turn open the brigthness (above 10%) and
contrast (above 60%) :(

Looking very close at the image it turns out that the bleu beam makes a
bigger window than the red beam, the green one lies in between.
At some places the convergence is perfect.

Moreover the beamwidth changes too :(
In the middle the beam is allmost twice as thick as at the border.
The beam itself looks scharp at the border, but not in the middle of the
screen.

Too make it completly creazy.... The beam-dot-width is perfect (projection
of vertical lines) at places the horizontal is not.
If needed I can put some screenshots online somewhere to make the analysis
more clear.

I'm not an expert in TV electronics, but i have some experiances ;-)
anyone an idea to look for please?

Hi,

I have an F77 too. And yes, I have focus issues too.

It has ended up with a *rather* sharp image but with non-ideal
convergence, brightness and Moiré. Nor does it look that good besides
my other monitors.

How much can one ask from a 6 years old monitor? I bought it used, so
i don't know how it was before.

My color settings now is:

max temp (10k)
Gain 100/74/100
Cut off 41/41/100

I have a few questions to you!

* Does the software via the maintenace cable give additional settings?
Focus related?

* Are there any focus settings under the cover? I don't want to mess
there unless I have too (would not want to fry).

If you are having some colour lines thicker than others with the
gratting pattern, this is an indication of the associated
electron-gun(s) in the tube going weak. Tweaking the focus pot in this
case may make one colour beam more sharp, while the others less sharp.
This is one classic example of a tube going weak.

For example the red may be wider than the blue or green when the focus
pot is optimised. This means that the red gun lacks emission.

There is nothing in software, or hardware other than a new tube that
can fix this.
