What's the sense of setting another group? The newsserver at news.cadsoft.de
isn't enough for you?

Bye

What's the sense of setting up another newsserver? sci.electronics.cad
isn't enough for you? There are Eagle questions once a week or so,
certainly not an overload to justify another server.

People who set up "their own" groups hurt us all by fragmenting the
discussion.

Eagle must be crap - it needs at least two groups to help people use it
properly.

Hello Leon,
you have made the wrong conclusion.
EAGLE is so easy to use, that even people having no clue of CAD can use it.
The other fact is that there are properly x times more user of EAGLE
than of most other PCB-CAD programs.

Best Regards,
Helmut

Different news servers carry different groups, and Google does not currently
archive the eagle support groups, As cadsfot run this dedicated newserver
they have the complete archives running back for a couple of years.

But perhaps you actually meant why have a seperate group (from se.cad)
rather than newserver?

The traffic on the dedicated Eagle news groups is probably about 20-30
messages a day. Its is also far easier to search a dedicated group for
common probs and their solution without having to wade through similar
topics that may be totally unrelated to this particular software package.
All in all a very good thing, and the majority of people here probably
aren't interested in these messages anyway... you may note that in general
the answers to queries about eagle point people to the dedicated groups.

cheeers

David

People who set up "their own" groups hurt us all by fragmenting the
discussion.
Different groups for different software packages is not necessarily a bad
thing if they have the traffic to support them, having multiple groups for
one package on the other hand is not good. Hence why this yahoo group is a
crap idea.
Then again the dickheads who use a cracked copy of eagle generally get a
hard time on the official eagle newsgroups, perhaps they are the people who
are interested in a seperate group.

cheers

Or it has a lot of highly intelligent users who often think of questions
about it.

Eagle is so cheap, that even people having no clue of CAD can use it.

Eagle may very well be sufficient for simple boards.

Or, you could be behind a big company firewall like I am. No news
traffic is allowed over the firewall. Only the company news server is
available - with, of course, a very limited selection of newsgroups
