Eagle 3.51 800x600 video

Okay, I should upgrade, but I just got this problem with Eagle 3.51.

I moved to a fast motherboard, still running DOS, but with a Radeon7000 video
card. Now all the video drivers that came with Eagle crash-- except the
640x480. Some lock up the cpu, others just scramble the screen.

I actually purchased new versions of Eagle, but the UI was so horrible we
decided to stay with the DOS version-- have is it been fixed? I can try a
download. In the meantime, is is possible to salvage at least 800x600?

TIA,

Steve.

are you blacklisted ?
those are public usenet "style" groups hosted by cadsoft (ie.
news://news.cadsoft.de) there is no membership reqired to post

just point your news reader to those links and subscribe

however, the posts are filtered / monitored by cadsoft and so
they decide which questions are allowed to post ? maybe they have
a list of registered posters that get direct post priveledges but
i am no registered user and have posted there before.

I am not quite sure why anyone is still using DOS.

There are loads of Windows versions of PCB CAD software out there.
Of course it takes a little time to get used to new software but it is
well worth the effort.

I have a CAD package I got for less than Ł20 and it does 127 layers
autorouting and autoplacing of components !
It is not restricted by the DOS memory limits either.
I can design PCB's upto 50 inches by 50 inches.

Yes, a VESA video problem. It's in the Video card drivers.
I used 3.51 up till last year. The latest version works well. I haven't looked back. Keyboard commands are the same.

Cheers

As always you are not saying that you are SELLING a package and that
your opinion is totally biased. Anyone remotely interested in buying
your package should do a search on your name, and would probably
come to the conclusion that dealing with you would be a grave mistake.
If anyone has 20 pounds to waste, rather give it to a recognised
charity than to this guy.

Where does it say in my email I am selling ?
Does it point to a website ?

Go and waste someone elses time !

Just so.

Well, let's recap:

Explain how you paid *yourself* Ł20.
I suspect that you wanted someone to ask the name of it
and where you got it.

To all who were thinking about that:
This vendor has a record of having difficulty telling the truth

(The low quality of his product has also been mentioned before.)

That is the whole point. All your posts are always a non-informative
and inappropriate attempt to get people to ask you where they can
get the "wonderful" PCB software you are using. If they contact you,
then purely by coincidence you SELL this software.

Does it point to a website ?
This particular post of yours does not, but you often say you
"got" it off ebay.

Go and waste someone elses time !
That is what people have trying to get you to do for quite some time
now.

Luckily for us your history on this and other groups has been
archived, and anyone can go and find for themselves exactly why it
would be unwise to purchase anything from you.

In that case why have I sold hundreds of copies ?
Surely hundreds of people cant be wrong ?

DOS programs wont work under Vista if they write directly to the video
memory.

I really would suggest getting away from DOS.
It has serious restrictions on memory.

I doubt Vista is a serious contender for CAD applications. For me it is
all about ease of use and speed. If I notice a delay between an action and
the result of that action, or if the timing changes, then I don't like the
application. Linux is pretty good, a lot better than Windows, for CAD, but
even it is not as fast a DOS box running only one program.

Peace.
