Dual tracking power supply

I have need of a dual tracking power supply (my ancient, DIY effort has
finally decided to die). I note that prices for such things are quite
reasonable nowadays and hardly demand the effort DIY. Any thoughts?

I looked at this:

http://www.rigolna.com/products/dc-power-supplies/dp800/dp832/

and, whilst very impressive, it's more money than I care to spend and I
really don't need the features/performance offered. Still, I like my
Rigol 1054Z. It would look nice beside it.

Then again, an earlier thread alerted me to this seller and his product:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131304464170?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

And this:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271530861812?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Thoughts on quality would be appreciated.

40-0-40 @ 5 Amps would be ideal, but 30-0-30 @ 3 Amps will likely
suffice for 99% of the time.

** My idea of a "dual tracking" PSU is when a single knob varies both the negative and positive outputs in identical fashion.

The Rigol may well do that but are you sure about the other two ?

The blurbs only says the two outputs track in parallel mode.

**Yeah, it's a bit confusing. I'll call the guy tomorrow. I hope he
speak English. :)

I can't see anything on the Ebay power supplies to say that they can
output negative voltage. Both say 0-30V, not 30-0-30. I think I've
seen better deals for 0-30V dual power supplies.

There also doesn't seem to be any reference in the specs or description
about them actually being linear either, just the word in the titles and
pictures. Given the context, I'd also be very skeptical about that.
Assuming you want to avoid switch-mode of course.

The interfaces can be poor as well (it's amazing what they can mess up),

** Both PSUs have series, independent and parallel modes.

Series gives you +/-30 if you treat the common as ground.

** The weight is a big clue (13.1 and 9.5kgs) plus the size too.

SMPS would be much smaller and lighter.

Its safe bet they are both linear.

**The seller sent me an email indicating that all his models (3) are
dual tracking types. I try to get some kind of money-back guarantee
relating to this.

**Thanks for the link. Interesting. I didn't think of Tenma and, most
importantly, I didn't think of RS. I checked the RS site and their
prices are very competitive. I'd rather source my product from them,
because I trust their systems and back-up. Here's one from the RS stable:

http://au.element14.com/tenma/72-10500/power-supply-2ch-30v-3a-adjustable/dp/225194801

I'd prefer linear, due to serviceability, but I am also aware that SMPS
is more likely given the cost constraints.
