On the subject of DSP (and if it is of interest to
anyone) there is an excellent and free, 640-page DSP tome
available for downloading at -

This is Steven W. Smith's "The Scientist and Engineer's
Guide to Digital Signal Processing" 2nd.ed., and despite
the name, it is an entry-level text. I downloaded the whole
thing and then printed it out chapter by chapter before
reading.
