DSA301LA

[Alfred Lorona]

Many Japanese rigs have an 'absorber' at the receiver input. It is usually a
DSA301LA. What is this part, how is it made and how does it work. What is
the fail mechanism? What measurements can be made on it to test it? I could
not find a spec sheet on it with Google.

FWIW, it appears to have been made by Mitsubishi (see usbid.com).

Just a WAG, but could it be a 300 volt disc shaped MOV? Other
manufacturer's metal oxide varistors have numbers such as V275LA40A
(275 volt). I notice the Mitsubishi DSA301LA parts have -04 or -05 or
-05F25 suffixes, for example. These suffixes may indicate diameter
and/or energy handling capability.

Another WAG, but could the "SA" in the part number stand for "surge
arrestor"?
