DS1821 Temperature probe help

Hi,

I'm trying to solder a DS1821 chip onto a board and connect it to an
ATMega128 for reading temperatures. I'm not too good with reading
electrical diagrams and I can't figure out how I should solder the wires
etc.

Please can someone have a look at the following link for the layout of
the DS1821 and tell me how it should be connected?

http://pdfserv.maxim-ic.com/arpdf/DS1821.pdf

I don't understand the part where the resister needs to be connected to
the DQ pin and then it says "Vcc" there.. does this mean that the DQ pin
needs to be joined with Vcc (the power) with the resister in between?
Please help before I blow the chip :(

Thanks!

Yes, guardedly. Are you sure you're familiar with how to program
it and all the software support it needs? The 4.7K is a pullup
resistor. DQ is either an input or output, depending on what mode
it's in. If you're looking for just a plain temperature indicator,
there are other chips that are a lot less complex to program.

Good Luck!

Cool! It's always nice to get feedback of any kind, and this kind
("It Works!") is especially nice. :)

Cheers!
