One very nice LVDS-to-LVDS part is the FIN1101. I'd bias both inputs
to, maybe +1.2 or thereabouts, AC ground one, and AC couple your
sinewave into the other. But in fact it works with one input grounded.

We pay about 80 cents. It's faster and cheaper than an official
"comparator", but it behaves like one.

which is not really disabled, but bypasses in the BIOS by assiging IRQ
11 to the daughterboard (GeForce 8400GS).
Seems all NVIDIA drivers fail to find the chip; my guess it finds
whatever is emulated on the MB and then quits.
Old DOS AMIDIAG does indicate that VESA mode 103 (600x800 256 colors)
is useable (liiks nice in their demo).
But the universal VESA driver only gives 640x480 16 colors - no
matter how one lies concerning which VBE Miniport verson to use.
And *no* Win98SE sound driver (RealTek).

That would mean that distro/version has a device driver for
everything.
At that point, using *that* OS as the _host_ for a Virtual Machine
and running 98 as a _guest_ would pass off all the hardware
interaction

I'm testing a new DMM I purchased, AM-240 by Amprobe. It claims *over*
100Mohm impedance in 400.0mV mode.

Nothing new there, many DMM's have selectable "high impedance" or "HI-Z"
modes on the mV range. e.g. the Fluke 87.


I've looked at the specs of ~ 30 DMM's today, include a lot of
fluke's, and never seen anything near 14Gohms impedance. Keithley has
an electrometer that's probably higher. Most DMM's are around 10Mohms
(not gigaohms) input impedance.

The Agilent U1253A also has it. Spec is ">1Gohm".
There are quite a few meters I've seen over the years that have it too.
I think I even saw it on one of those $10 disposable meters too.

It is actually quite common in bench top meters to have 1 GOhm or 10
GOhm input resistance on dc V scales 10 V and below, twenty years ago.
Some Keithley electrometers were out of this world high Z (100 aA
resolving power).

Played around some more with the VBE Miniport drivers by Anaa Corp

(one of the universal VESA driver programs available), and found that
their VBE Miniport SVGA driver does indeed allow me to get 26 colors at
800x600.
!Much better than 16 colors which was like a kick in the head.
Still...
Would like to get the NV8264's GeForce 8400GS driver to work.
Found out something that makes the installation of that rather puzzling.
Remember that it immediately states no Nvidia chip found?
Well, i found out that the motherboard uses the Nvidia GeForce 6100
chipset for on-board video (!!) - and since my PCIE video card is a
Nvidia GeForce 8400GS, it would seem that it should be impossible to NOT
find a Nvidia chip.
So i posted the problem to ASUS (asked for a Win98SE sound driver also).
