Hi All,

I would like to dive into the world of DMX512 design, mainly receiver
modules. I have searched Google quite alot but haven't really found
anything that would help or even a starting point.

Does anyone know any good sites that could get me started with a basic
DMX512 decoder?

Many Thanks,

Gavin.

hi Gavin,

Elektor Electronics magazine have done many articles and projects on
DMX512. Go to www.elektor-electronics.co.uk and type DMX512 in the
Search box.

good luck,
Rick

Since you haven't found anything on google suitable for you...
If you are going to do these for professional use, you need a copy of the
ANSI E1.11-2004 Entertainment Technology USITT DMX512-A, Asynchronous Serial
Digital Data Transmission Standard for Controling Lighting Equipment and
Accessories. It is available from the usitt.org bookstore under ESTA
Publications. You may find a public review version on the internet.
Since the standard has been released, it may be difficult. The standards
will help you stay out of compatability hell.

Next, use your favorite programming language and microcontroller that has a
UART that can do 250K. Decide on the type and quantity of outputs (relays,
analogs, servos, etc.) you want to control that fits your market.

Do your own designs. It will be more rewarding.

Google for "DMX512 schematic". You'll get a lot more interesting reading.

Good Luck.
