A couple of years back one of the regular posters on this NG gave a link to his
website that had an article on dithering.

Can anyone remember who it was or have the link ?

Except I get no graphics. Just a big sqaure hole where they should be. I think
it's something wrong at this end.

I've tried all the usual tricks. I suspect you've used vector graphics which
never seem to work for me. IE tells me it needs to download vector graphics
rendering, it does so, and nothing changes. It's happened about 5 times.

Don,

The files on the second url are shockwave, not jpg. Many people,
including myself, do not use the reader for this format.

I don't see much in the way of graphics anyway, at least not on the
index.html that I'm getting, other than the background pic. Maybe
I'm even missing the big black hole, because the bottom half of
the page is empty.

Konqueror 3.3 on KDE 3.3.0 .

Cheers!

I've found the graphics everyone seems to be talking about - they're
just ordinary .gifs.

But I do get an interesting artifact - when click "home" on the button
bar, the button bar changes, but the page in the frame doesn't, and from
then on all the button bar seems to do is light up buttons. But if I
reload at that point, I go back to the index page.

Konqueror 3.3 on KDE 3.3.0 , but I suspect there might be something on
my end, especially since I seem to have mucked something up - Konqueror
is the only browser that I can get to start!

Thanks,
Rich
Yeah they're gifs on the new link. The original one has something odd that I
don't get. Just holes where they should have been.

There is something odd on that site though. Normal my IE shows the address of
where a link is pointing to on the site when the pointer hovers over it. It
doesn't happen on that site.

The home page hasn't got much on it - I wanted it to be really quick
loading. It has a background pic, a logo and a picture of the Emley
Moor TV tower (as well as words). If you have that lot, you have all
of it.

Isn't that the one that fell down (at least, its predecessor did)?

Yup - it was the predecessor that fell down. It was mainly carrying
TV, though, so nobody noticed for three weeks.

Emley Moor was a commercial-TV-only site at that time and the
advertisers definitely DID notice that their ads weren't going out.
IIRC, a temporary mast was designed, built, transported to site (Emley
Moor is not all that accessible) and erected in that three week period.
