I have a 14" colour television here at home,its a ZX-Series (some shop's own
brand here in irland) and when i turn it on all i get is a horizontal line
on the across the middle of the screen, its was working fine and then it
just went like this,it was dropped or damaged in any way. Anyone got any
ideas or is it totally dead?!

No vertical deflection. Check the yoke, the vert output, etc.
read the sci.electronics.repair faq if you haven't already.

One of the easiest problems there is to fix, usually just bad soldering
around the vertical output chip.

Where roughly would the vertical output chip be located??

Following the yoke's wiring.

It won't be a chip, by the way. Too much current.

If you can't recognize a power transistor when you see one, I recomend
that you either replace the TV with a similar POS, or take to reading
instead.
