Hi all
I live in the outer western suburbs of
Sydney and I have a set top box. it seems I need to do some work on the
Arial side of things, Jaycar has sold me 75 ohm cable that was designed for
digital, but I think my Arial shall also need attention, can any one tell me
what is the best way to do this, I get problems with 7, 10, 2, it's
obviously poor signal as we have poor signal when viewed on an analogue
tuner.. apparently the digital signal is UHF? is this true ?
any help appreciated

Ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer. Learn to spell and learn to
research, then ask your questions. The web is full of answers if you don't
mind spending ten minutes looking.

** Call a local antenna company - issues like this require on site
inspection and local knowledge.

OK fuckwit, let's have a look at your post...

OK, Jaycar just sucked you in with marketing hype. I bet your 'digital
cable' is still just cheap shit. Go buy some belden brand cable. A google
search would have turned up billions of results about 'digital coax'.

but I think my Arial shall also need attention, can any one tell me
what is the best way to do this, I get problems with 7, 10, 2, it's
obviously poor signal as we have poor signal when viewed on an analogue
Well dipshit, if its a poor signal, then get an amplifier. A quick search of
google yeilds billions of results

tuner.. apparently the digital signal is UHF? is this true ?
A google search using site:au would have revealed plenty of answers on this
too.

any help appreciated
If you cant help yourself, then there isn't much anyone here can do.

PS, go pay someone to fix your 'Arial' for you.

** The outer west of Sydney ( where the OP hails ) is up to 60 km from the
transmitters - which in Sydney are not sited much above sea level. The OP
may be in one of many blind spots.

Amplifiers will not help at all unless mounted at the mast head - even
then *only* if the signals are UHF or the down lead is very long and hence
lossy. The signals in Sydney are all VHF except for SBS on 28.

Most weak signal antenna problems can be solved by looking around the
location and seeing what others are using, asking if their pics are OK,
getting a peak at their TVs and learning.

You just said 'an amplifier only amplfies a bad signal'. You then proceded
to write 'it will not improve a abd one'. I assume 'abd' was supposed to
mean bad. Go away fool.

In Sydney, SBS transmits on UHF 34, others on VHF.
